September 11 is also a National Day of Service. And, the Chabad Center at Binghamton University held its annual Mitzvah Marathon.

Students, faculty, and staff were able to write cards for the sick, make sandwiches for local food banks and give blood to those in need.

Students say the event is a way to perform good deeds, while also remembering the lives that were lost.

“We’re trying our best to never forget this tragedy that happened and we not only want to remember the names and the faces of those who passed, but also do something for the world, while keeping them in our memory,” said Yael David, Binghamton University junior.

The Chabad Center has held their Mitzvah Marathon for 12 years.
