Over 7,000 Jews filled a sports arena in Yekatrinburg, Russia, on the first night of Chanukah to celebrate the joyful occasion with song, good food, and festive spirits.

Regional Mayor Yevgeni Koibashov blessed the audience and lit the Shamosh. Shliach and Rov of the city Zelig Ashkenazi made the blessing on the candles.

Following the lighting, Jewish entertainers and musicians performed, delighting and amazing everyone. They were soon joined on stage by Or Avner Chabad’s boys choir, of Yekatrinburg.

At the hall’s entrance were booths offering assistance with laying Tefillin, as well as a “L’Chaim” sponsored kiosk peddling delicious Sufganiyot, and other kosher delicacies.
