The Rebbe MH”M’s shluchim in Almaty, Kazakhstan have spent weeks preparing for the arrival of thousands of chassidim for the Yahrtzeit of the Rebbe’s father Horav Levi Yitzchok Shneerson, who is buried in the city.
Thousands of guests are in the midst of arriving from all over the world, including the now famous charter flight from New York, making it necessary for the shluchim, under the auspices of Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen, to kasher two hotels.
The shluchim are simultaneously hosting a grand Kinus Hashluchim for the Rebbe’s Shluchim from across the former Soviet Union and Europe, who are gathering near the Ohel to spend this special day farbrenging and strengthening one another.
As every year, the events in Almaty are generously sponsored by the Shaulson family from Miami and Stern family from New York. Both families have strong personal connections to the Rebbe’s father, inspiring them to enable the grand yearly celebrations of the hilula.
