As we have reported earlier today, the Tefillin stand belonging to Chabad of Chevron, located at Me’oras Hamachpeila, was taken down in the middle of last night. Following an immediate outcry and international condemnation, the Tefillin stand was restored Baruch Hashem.
The Chabad Tefillin stand is familiar to everyone at Me’oras Hamachpeila, and thousands of tourists and visitors stop by the stand on a daily basis, to lay Teffillin at one of the holiest places in the world.
The Tefillin stand is run by Rabbi Yonatan Attia, son of Shliach to Chevron, Rabbi Victor Attia, under the directorship of Rabbi Danny Cohen of Chabad of Chevron.
Rabbi Baruch Marzel, a Chevron activist and close friend with Chabad, told ChabadInfo.com: “In general, everyone loves the activities of Chabad in Chevron. There has been a misunderstanding between an official from the religious council in the community and Chabad, but it was all dealt with in a peaceful manner. I always stand together with the great work of the Shluchim in Chevron and their activities with the soldiers and locals, and this case was no different”
