Undercover police arrived at Yeshivas Chasidei Chabad-Lubavitch in Tzfas on Wednesday morning, and arrested a 19-year-old student. There are different reports as to the reason of the arrest.
The more prevalent report is that he is listed as AWOL from military service, although some claim he was only arrested for investigation purposes. We will keep you updated, once the final details become available.
Police awakened the student at 6:00 am, and arrested him in his pajamas, eyewitnesses report, only showing him an arrest warrant once they were outside the building.
According to parties involved in the case, it marks the first time police have arrested a bochur inside a yeshiva, as to date, military police usually arrived in a student’s home.
The Yeshiva has relayed the Bochur’s name as, Meir Shalom ben Elisheva, and that the student does not come from a Lubavitch background, and joined the Yeshiva recently.
