Yesterday, we published a letter penned in 1988 by then-Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Binyamin Netanyahu to the Rebbe, in which Netanyahu thanks the Rebbe for “the great moral encouragement you have given me throughout my years of UN service.”
After we published the post, we endeavored to discover the Rebbe’s response to Netanyahu. We contacted the liaison between Netanyahu and the Rebbe, Rabbi Dovid Nachshon, the director of the Mitzvah Tanks in Eretz Yisroel, who has all the correspondences between the Rebbe and the Prime Minister.
Rabbi Nachson was pleased to share with us the response of the Rebbe that he originally received to pass on to Netanyahu, which we are sharing with the public for the first time.
The letter is dated on Rosh Chodesh Sivan 5748, four days after Netanyahu’s letter was sent.
In the letter, the Rebbe confirms that he received Netanyahu’s Letter and the Rebbe gives him a Bracha that he should utilize his talents upon his return to Eretz Yisroel.
