Recently in Crown Heights, a number of Jewish-owned vehicles have been burglarized, resulting in the thaft of charity boxes and other valuables.
One burglary victim told chabadinfo that his car was broken into on Sunday night, while parked near Lefforts Park, a park frequanted by many in the community. Later, he found that a charity box and some loose change were stolen.
When he related the episode to friends and acquaintances, he realized he wasn’t alone – there were many more such incidents.
“They seem to know that every Jewish car has a Pushka [charity box], – hiding it isn’t enough – even if they don’t see it they know it is in the car,” he told us.
Do not leave valubales on display in your car. If your car has been burglarized or tempered with in any way, contact the authorities immediately and file a report.
