    Badatz Reaffirms “Brooklyn Eiruv” is Invalid

    The Beis Din of Crown Heights, headed by Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba and Rabbi Yosef Braun published a letter on Friday of the use of the “Brooklyn Eiruv” and confirming its invalidity it is absolutely prohibited to carry on Shabbos in Crown Heights and it is the eiruv is “nonexistent” • Full Story

    The Beis Din of Crown Heights, headed by Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba and Rabbi Yosef Braun published a letter on Friday of the use of the “Brooklyn Eiruv” and confirming its invalidity and it is “nonexistent”.

    The following is an excerpt from their letter:

    “Regarding the numerous questions from the public about a Eiruv in our shchna:

    “1. The position of all the Rabbonim and members of the Beis Din of Crown Heights has already been publicized

    — including the Rabbonim signed below and Harav Yaakov Schwei A”H, and this had been decided by the Beis Din way since its founding and also that of Harav Zalman Shimon Dworkin A”H —

    that it is absolutely unacceptable

    “3. In is self-understood that there is no change to this position, even after the publicity of supposed “walls” outside the community (and even after the efforts to receive approval from outside the community and overseas…).

    “4. Recently some people have stood up… and have come to cast doubt (safek being the same numerical value as amalek) on that which is well known by Anash, and they publicize attacks with false information and arguments, and try to attribute it to our Rabbeim, we have Chazal’s words that…

    “5. We need only to reiterate the practical ruling that it is absolutely prohibited to carry on Shabbos in Crown Heights, and the “eruv” is as nonexistent.” Those who carry want only are transgressing all of the above and separating themselves from the community…”
