On Sunday morning, family and friends of Duke University’s Jewish community gathered from all around the country to celebrate the Fleishman House’s ribbon cutting ceremony. The Fleishman House, formerly the King’s Daughters Inn, is located just off East Campus and will serve as the new home for Chabad at Duke University Undergrads. With three floors, a kitchen, 17 bedrooms and a 2,100 square-foot rooftop deck, Jewish students at Duke will have an official communal space to celebrate Shabbat and the High Holidays • Full Story
Yidden gathered this morning to say l’chaim with Paris Shliach Rabbi Mendel Azimov, who was chazzan for Shachris in the Chabad shul on Rue Des Rosiers to mark the seventh yahrtzeit of his father, legendary Shliach Rabbi Shmuel ‘Muleh’ Azimov. Rabbi Azimov was responsible for changing France’s Jewish landscape, bringing down over 400 Shluchim and making thousands of baalei teshuva over the decades of his tireless work • Photos
The last remaining Jew in Afghanistan, Zabulon Simantov, is on his way to Israel after leaving his home due to the complete takeover of the country by the Taliban, after the group installed its own government in Kabul in late August. To commemorate the yahrtzeit of Rachel Imeinu, 70 brave women rescued by Yad L’Achim from Arab villages visited her tomb in Beit Lechem last Thursday. The visit was part of the organization’s ongoing social/educational program aimed at deepening the Jewish identity of these women who for years were cut off from any trace of Judaism. On a state visit to Kazakhstan, Israeli Minister of Tourism, Yoel Razvozov, arrived to the Chabad Center in Almaty, the country’s largest city, to meet with Senior Shliach and Chief Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen.
