Update: It has been cleared for release that the second victim in today’s Gush Etzion terrorist attack is 18-year-old Ezra Schwartz, HY”D, of Sharon, MA. His family was notified of the horrific news a short while after the attack.
Ezra is a student at Yeshiva Ashreinu in Beit Shemesh.
Three people have been murdered and another seven wounded on Thursday afternoon in a shooting attack in Gush Etzion region, ten minutes south of Jerusalem.
Of the victims, several are reportedly citizens of the United States.
A critically wounded 25-year-old victim died of his wounds inflicted in the attack shortly after, as did a 50-year-old victim who was evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem with bullet wounds in his upper body. He had been classified as very seriously wounded and was unconscious.
A third victim killed in the attack was a man in his 40’s who had been standing nearby.
Five other lightly wounded victims were evacuated to Shaare Tzedek Hospital, also in the capital, as were two others who suffered from shock.
Two terrorists involved in the attack have been neutralized; in addition to shooting it appears the attackers used their car as a weapon as well.
One terrorist was reportedly identified as Shadi Arfa, a resident of Hevron. The murderers were neutralized by a religious Border Police officer.
MDA reports the attack began with a shooting spree on cars at Tzomet Gevaot, from where the terrorists then drove to nearby Alon Shevut Junction and ran over at least one other person.
Video from the scene of the attack shows the terrorists being apprehended by security forces.
The attack brings the death toll in terrorist attacks Thursday to five. It occurred shortly after a lethal stabbing attack in southern Tel Aviv, where an Arab terrorist from the Hevron region murdered two Jews at prayerand moderately wounded a third.
The terrorist in that attack had received a work permit from the security services, and was employed at a restaurant in Yafo, a suburb to the south of Tel Aviv.
