It is with great pain and sadness that we inform you of the passing of Rabbi Yeshaya Zushe Wilhelm, OBM, longtime menahel of Oholei Torah Mesivta, author of several texts, as well as Director of Lemaan Yilmedu’s American branch.

    He was 62 years old.

Born to R’ Avrohom Dovid and Mrs. Chana Rivkah Wilhelm, he was named after the ‘Boyde Rov’, the Chief Rabbi of the Soviet Union.

In 5740 he was sent as a bochur shliach to Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Caracas, Venezuela, subsequently learning in 770 the following year.

Following his marriage to his wife Esther, the couple spent several years serving as Shluchim in Panama, facilitating the growth of the local Jewish community.

For 32 years he served as menahel of Oholei Torah Mesivta, educating generations of talmidim, many of them Shluchim, Rabbonim, and members of Anash the world around.

Over the years he authored several halachic texts: “Ziv Hasheimis”, the Yiddish Siddur, as well as published a weekly publication titled “Yesh Litmoah”, which was loved by its many readers.

Two years ago he founded the American branch of the now well-known Lemaan Yilmedu organization, which provides Anash the opportunity to learn Yoreh Deah with a thorough, down to earth curriculum. Hundreds of members of Anash have joined the course over the years.

His sister Mrs. Raizel Wolvovsky passed away just over a month ago.

He is survived by his mother Chana Rivka, his wife Esther, as well as his children Berele Wilhelm – Los Angeles, Chaim Wilhelm – Crown Heights, Levi Wilhelm – Las Vegas, Mendy Wilhelm – Crown Heights, Mushkee Raskin – Montego Bay, Jamaica , Mashee Begun – Crown Heights, Sara Shur – Crown Heights, and Moshe Wilhelm – Crown Heights.

He is also survived by his siblings Mrs. Leah Fradkin – S. Diego, California, Rabbi Moshe Wilhelm – Portland, Oregon, Rabbi Yisroel Wilhelm – Crown Heights, Mrs. Rochel Lapidus – Buenos Aires, Argentina, Rabbi Nachman Wilhelm – Monsey, NY, Mrs. Chaya Sarah Barber – Crown Heights, Rabbi Zalman Wilhelm – Crown Heights, and Rabbi Motty Wilhelm – Toronto, Canada.

The Levaya will take place on Thursday, leaving Shomrei Hadas in Boro Park at 12 PM, passing by Oholei Torah Mesivta at 1:00 PM, and 770 at 1:15 PM.
