With great sadness we regret to inform you of the passing of the Rosh Yeshiva of Oholei Torah Rabbi Yisroel Friedman, OB”M. He passed away this morning, Wednesday, Zayin Nissan. He was 84-years-old.

He was born in the town of Bishankovich, Russia, where Tevet 5696 was born to his father R’ Yaacov and his mother Mrs. Gitl Friedman.

In 5707, he and his family moved from Russia as part of the Great Escape, and for about two years the family lived in Paris, while he learned in the Yeshiva in Brunoy, France.

In 5791, the Friedman family, immigrated to Eretz Yisrael, and Rabbi Friedman studied at Tomchei Temimim in Tel Aviv and Lod.

He later flew to New York to learn in 770, and was recognized as a great lamdan and illuy in learning.

After his marriage, he was appointed as a maggid shiur in Oholei Torah, and later as its Rosh Yeshiva.

He is survived by his daughter, Rochel. He was predeceased by his wife who passed away a few years ago.

He will be mourned by the many generations of Talmidim that he taught over the years.
