With great sadness we inform you of the passing of Rabbi Refoel (Folle) Wilschanski, OB”M. He passed away in New York late Tuesday night, the eve of the 3rd of Shvat. He was in his early 90’s.
Rabbi Wilschanski was born to his father R’ Betzalel Wilschanski in the year 5685. After running from town to town over many years, he settled in New York in the year 5732. Since then he was from the great Mashpi’im of the Schunah.
He was an active member of the community, involved with many boards of leadership; including a member of the spiritual board of the Ohr Menachem boys’ school.
He is survived by his wife Chava and children; Rabbi Shneur Zalman Wilschanski, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim Morristown; Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Wilschanski, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Chassidei Chabad-Lubavitch Tzfas; R’ Chaim Eliyahu Wilschanski – Crown Heights; and Mrs. Devorah Reicher – Melbourne, Australia.
He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The Levaya will take place tomorrow, Thursday, leaving Shomrei Hadas in Boro Park at 1:00 pm and passing by 770 at 2:00 pm.
