With great sadness we inform you of the passing of Rabbi Dovid Yisroel Ber Kaufmann, OB”M. He passed away on Thursday, 4 Adar. He was 65 years old.
Rabbi Kaufmann has been battling yene machla for the past few years.
He was first brought closer to Yiddishkeit with the help of Rabbi Zelig and Bluma Rivkin of New Orleans, Louisiana.
He was very involved with spreading Chassidus, in many ways including through his well-educated English. He wrote for the weekly L’Chaim publication for eight years.
He wrote a number of books, including a book on Moshiach titled “Reflections of Redemption”.
He survived his wife Mrs. Shluchim Nechama Kaufmann, their children Rabbi Saadya Kaufmann – Houston, TX; Mrs. Rochel Traxler – Houston, TX; Rabbi Shmuel Kaufmann – Montreal, Canada; Mrs. Chaya Mushka Silver – Crown Heights; Rabbi Yosef Kaufmann – Johannesburg, South Africa; Mrs. Chana Bracha Hellinger – Crown Heights; Devorah Leah Kaufman – New Orleans, LA.
The Levaya will take place on Friday morning in Houston, Texas.
