With great sadness we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Miriam Zilberstrom, OB”M, of Bnei Brak, ER”Y. A mother of a large Chabad family, in Eretz Yisroel and Canada. She was 90 years old.
Miriam Zilbershtrom was born on 17th of Tammuz 5690 to her parents Rabbi Tuvya and Sheva Spiegel, of the distinguished families of Bnei Brak.
When her shidduch was proposed with Aharon Mordechai Zilbershtrom, the Frierdiker Rebbe wrote to him that it was an appropriate suggestion and it should be in a good time physically and spiritually.
Their wedding was originally scheduled for 13 Shvat 5710, but was postponed because of the passing of the Frierdiker Rebbe. At the advice of the Rebbe, they waited until after the Shloshim to get married, and was ultimately celebrated on 18th of Adar 5750.
For many years she remained loyally at her husband’s side while he built the “Reshet” (Reshes Oholei Yosef Yitzchak – the Chabad Lubavitch Educational arm in Eretz Yisroel). While her husband traveled the country establishing schools, she dedicated herself to raising their seven children allowing her husband to dedicated both days and nights to fulfill the Shlichus the Rebbe placed upon him.
She was very dedicated in the Rebbe’s Mivtzoim, and would go out weekly to partake in Mivtza Neshe”k and other mivtzoim that pertained to Jewish women. Should would study each Shabbos with her husband the weekly “likut” that was just published and arrived from the Rebbe. She was a steller example of Yiras Shomayim, good middos, Chinuch al taharas Hakodesh, modesty and humility.
She is survived by her children Mrs. Esther Schochet – Toronto, Canada; Rabbi Binyomin Zilberstrom – Yerushalaim; Rabbi Tuvia Zilberstrom – Yerushalaim; Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Zilberstrom – Lod; Rabi Chanoch Zilberstrom – Kfar Chabad; Rabbi Dovid Zilberstrom – Kfar Chabad; Mrs. Chana Ginsburg – Chaifa.
She is predeceased by her husband Rabbi Mordechai Ahron Zilberstrom, OB”M.
