With great sadness we inform you of the passing of Harav Moshe Yehuda Leib Landau, OB”M, the Chief Rabbi of Bnei Brak. He passed away on Motzei Shabbos at Laniado Hospital in Netanya. He was 84-years-old.

Harav Landau was known for operating the Badatz kashrus in the city. His father, HaGaon HaRav Yaakov Landau, OB”M, preceded him as Rav of Bnei Brak.

Rabbi Landau was hospitalized earlier this week, after being diagnosed with an infection.

His position included handling the city’s religious issues, including marriages, eruvin, and mikvois. He also gave lectures on various topics in Jewish law at the city’s synagogues.

He is survived by his wife, and their children: Rabbi Yitzchok Aizik Landa – Tzfas; Mrs. Dina Belinow – Bnei Brak; Rabbi Yisroel Landa – Toronto, Canada; Rabbi Yosef Landa – London, England; Rabbi Zalman Landau – Bnei Brak; Rabbi Menachem Landa – California; Mrs. Shulamis Vinkler – Bnei Brak; Rabbi Schneur Landa – Netanya; Mrs. Mina Weinberg – Bnei Brak; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother Rabbi Eliyahu Landa, a Rosh Yeshiva at the Central Tomchei Tmimim Yeshiva in Kfar Chabad, Israel.

A Levaya was held on Motzei Shabbos at Bais Medrash “Ohel Nechemia” in Netanya, and then proceeded to Bnai Brak, where a massive Levaya will be held on Sunday morning at 11:00AM in his Bais Medrash “Bais Yaakov” located on Yechezkel Street.

The Kevura will be on Har Hazeisim, where he will be buried next to his father.

In his Tzavah he requested that no women participate in his Levaya.

    Baruch Dayan Ha’Emes
