The Jewish world is in mourning Tuesday with the news of the passing of Harav Gershon Edelstein zt’l, leading figure in the Charedi world in Eretz Yisroel and dean of the Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak.
He passed away on Tuesday at the age of 100.
HaRav Edelstein, zt’l, was the Nasi of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah and the leader of Chareidi Jewry in Eretz Yisrael and throughout the world and served as the Rosh Yeshivah of Ponevezh Yeshivah for 80 years.
Since the passing of Harav Chaim Kanievsky, a little over a year ago, Harav Edelstein was considered the leading figure in the Litvishe Charedi world.
