    Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky zatzal, 95, one of the most prominent Rabbis of the Haredi community, fainted in his home in Bnei Brak and underwent resuscitation by medical personnel. He was announced dead soon after, at the age of 94.

    His family called for the public to pray for Rabbi Kanievky’s wellbeing. Dozens of people gathered under the rabbi’s house to recite prayers and Psalms.

    Prime Minister Naftali Bennett wrote that “I too am joining in the prayers for the recovery of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky.”

    Opposition leader Netanyahu commented “I am praying for Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky. May God heal him soon.”

    Shas chairman Aryeh Deri called on the public to pray for Rabbi Kanievsky, saying, “May God preserve the Sages of Israel. Together with all of Israel, I pray for the complete and speedy recovery of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky.”

    MK Moshe Gafni (UTJ) wrote “I ask the entire community to pray for Rabbi Kanievsky’s recovery.”

    Religious Services Minister Matan Kahana commented, “Along with all of Israel, I pray for Rabbi Kanievsky’s speedy recovery.”

    Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion said, “I stopped my Purim celebration to pray together with all the people of Israel for the complete and speedy recovery of Rabbi Shmarya Yosef Chaim ben Pasha Miriam Kanievsky. The people of Israel need him.”
