We regret to inform you of the passing of famous Chabad painter R’ Baruch Nachshon, who merited to have many special kiruvim from the Rebbe MH”M, and was known for his deep, beautiful Jewish artwork.

    He was 82 years old.

He was born on 15 Menachem Av, 5699 in the city of Haifa . He began to paint when he was still young. During this time he developed his style painting.

R’ Baruch completed his elementary and high school studies in the religious education system, but did not find what he was looking for. He began to become close with Chabad when he had the opportunity to attend the Chabad Yeshiva in Lod , where he was fascinated by famous mashpia Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Kesselman . When he finished his military service, he decided to return to a yeshiva in Lod.

At one point he wrote to the Rebbe MH”M that he wanted to get to know the Rebbe up close. The Rebbe sent him an official invitation from the Central Chabad Yeshiva in 770, offering him to completely cover all expenses. After waiting many months to receive his visa, R’ Baruch finally travelled to learn by the Rebbe.

In 5725, R’ Baruch married his wife Sarah. Shortly thereafter, the couple travelled to the Rebbe. R’ Baruch had three yechidus’n with the Rebbe, where the Rebbe encouraged his work in painting, pushing him to create “kosher art”. The Rebbe offered to fund his studies School of Visual Arts in New York City, also paying for the young couple’s monthly expenses.

“The art of painting has not yet been corrected in this world for many generations”, the Rebbe told him, “your soul has descended into the world to fix the world of painting.”

R’ Baruch was zoche to a very unique visit from the Rebbe MH”M on 6 Kislev 5739, when he erected an exhibit of his paintings in 788 Eastern Parkway, next to 770. The Rebbe spent 50 minutes perusing the artist’s paintings, making many positive remarks to him.

R’ Baruch spent most of his years living in Kiryat Arba, near Chevron in Eretz Yisroel.
