A letter from Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gluckowsky
Dear fellow Anash and Shluchim,
Mendy, a three year old son of the Rebbe’s Shluchim in Israel, suffered severe brain damage when he was just four months old, due to a medical error that occurred during a procedure that was needed to save his life.
At first his Cerebral palsy was seen as un-treatable, however his loving parents did not rest for a minute. His mother left her job and committed herself full time to caring for Mendy and searching for treatments that can enhance his functionality.
With Hashem’s Help, they found a method called TheraSuit that has helped Mendy tremendously in the last year and a half. The doctors and therapists are very impressed by the drastic improvement in so many of his skills, and are predicting that by continuing this treatment he can be a fully functioning child, although at this time he is still mostly paralyzed.
The only obstacle in the way of his recovery is money; this unique therapy costs them $54,000.00 a year! and is not covered by medical insurance. As his mother is not working for the last three years, and his father is devoted to his Shlichus, they barely made it till now thanks to the help of family and friends, but they came to a point that they simply can no longer continue this therapy, as they are struggling with putting bread on the table.
I plead to my fellow Anash and Shluchim around the world to join together in ensuring that Mendy gets the treatment he needs. A family that devoted their life to helping fellow Jews, deserves that all of us should be there for them in a time of desperate need.
Our goal is to raise $108,000.00 to cover all medical costs for the next two years.
