Chai Elul is upon us! The birthday of the Ba’al Shem Tov and the Alter Rebbe. The beginning of Achiyah HaShiloni’s instruction. And 10 years later, the revelation of Chassidus.
In the more than 290 years since the revelation, the holy teachings of the Ba’al Shem Tov and his Chevra Kadisha have touched every continent. A renewal born in the shadow of persecution and pogroms, has swept across the globe bringing joy and empathy.
Following the passing of the Ba’al Shem Tov, his disciples further developed his teachings into two distinct schools of thought. ChaBaD and CheGaS. The former placing emphasis on intellectual discovery and the latter, a focus on emotion as the basis for understanding.
Years turned to decades. Chassidus spread further, often as a singular light in the darkness. Decades turned to centuries. The flames flickered, but light shines the brightest in the dark. Today there are more than 35 different sects of hassidim. Each with their own, unique, philosophy and method for Divine Service.
Within one of the largest groups, Chabad- Lubavitch, Rabbi Paltiel has spent his life learning and teaching the histories and valuable lessons previously hidden in the Torah. His organization, Inside Chassidus has spent the last 15 years spreading Chassidus and its teachings to English speaking people via various mediums including the internet, videos, and podcasts.
In honor of Chai Elul, Rabbi Paltiel and Inside Chassidus have launched a 36 hour campaign to further disseminate chassidus and celebrate the memory of the Ba’al Shem Tov, the Alter Rebbe and the living Jewish People.
