The Chicago Chapter of the International Shidduch Group Network will hold its first annual Simcha Expo for women on Sunday, August 23. This Expo is the first of its kind in Chicago and is specifically tailored for the religious consumer making a wedding, Bar Mitzvah, Bas Mitazvah or family celebration. It will showcase over twenty local vendors and feature internationally renowned guest speaker Miryam Swerdlov. In honor of the ten-year anniversary of the International Shidduch Group Network, the Chicago Shidduch Group will also present the Founders’ Award to the Network’s president, Mrs. Elana Bergovoy.

For the past ten years, the Shidduch Group Network has presented a unique method to draw down the mazal through the power of connection, sisterhood and Torah. The grassroots sensation spreads its message by incorporating learning Torah together, praying for each other’s children, networking and celebrating with the whole community – all of which is a practical manifestation of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s shidduchim teachings. The Rebbe’s directives are clear: the Torah has the GPS for marriage, it has guidelines on how to have a successful journey to the chuppah.

With the first annual Simcha Expo, the Chicago Chapter seeks to provide an experience where people throughout the country can come and enjoy Chicago community vendors, hear a world class speaker and celebrate this incredible milestone that shows the power of networking for shidduchim.

The $18 entrance fee entitles attendees to a raffle ticket that will enter them in the running to win $100 worth of services from vendors such as Deja Views Photography, Sanela B Salon, Illinois Nut & Candy, Eliana’s Custom Creations, Honey’s Bunch Florist, Chaya Wolf Set for Life Invitations, and many more. These vendors are available for all simchas, from brisim to Bar and Bas Mitzvos and more!

Guest speaker Miryam Swerdlov will give a talk titled: “Six Steps from Stress to Serenity.” Ms. Swerdlov has taught Jewish History at Yeshiva High Schools for more than 30 years and directs a camp for American teenagers in Israel every summer. Her popular tours of Israel and the Former Soviet Union focus on the rich Jewish history of the locales. Ms. Swerdlov brings personal warmth and laugh-out-loud humor to her lectures which are sprinkled with her real-life experiences. She has lectured in Australia, South Africa, England, France, Russia, the Ukraine, Israel and all over the US and Canada.

The Founders’ Award will be presented to Mrs. Elana Bergovoy, president of the organization, to show hakaras hatov for the tireless work she has put into the Shidduch Group Network for the past ten years. Along with vice president Mrs. Dvora Schulman, Mrs. Bergovoy has created a network that not only offers support and a community for people seeking shidduchim with over forty-five Chapters active on six continents, but also educational programs, conferences, publications and training for shadchans.

“I feel very strongly that the mazal is in the group,” says Mrs. Bergovoy. “I have merited to be in a position of organizing a local and international grassroots initiative, but its success is due to the hundreds of participants who have been receptive to our approach – especially the wonderfully supportive Group here in Chicago, whose investment of time was crucial to beginning the Network – and followed our ‘Recipe.’ I’m grateful for the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s inspiration and guidance in getting my own children to the chuppah, and I look forward to celebrating with many, many more friends throughout the world as we continue to make shidduchim together.”

The Expo will take place IY”H on August 23, 2015 at Congregation Bnei Ruven in West Rogers Park., Chicago. Doors open at 6:30 PM. For more information, please email [email protected]
