Bnos Menachem High School is proud to present “Battle on the Home Front”; A musical performance, depicting the Jewish Women’s heart-wrenching struggle for Chevron.

“Battle on the Homefront,” tells the story of the indomitable Sara Nachshon, who, inspired by Eretz Yisroel’s swift victory in the Six Day War, asked the Rebbe for a brocha to move to Chevron, a city of 200,000 Arabs, and no Yidden.

Together with several other families, including the prominent Rabbi Moshe Levinger and his wife, Miriam, the Nachshons set off with their small children to rebuild the Jewish presence near the holy resting place of our Avos and Imahos. Facing government opposition, angry Arabs, cynical soldiers, and personal tragedy, the Nachshons established the community of Kiryat Arba, a suburb of Chevron.

As the Israeli government negotiated with its Arab neighbors, returning the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt, Sara Nachshon and the women of Kiryat Arba feared Chevron would soon follow, and Yidden would be banned from the holy city once again.

On Vav Tishrei 5740, as Sara Nachshon and thirty women and children were under siege in Chevron’s Beit Hadassah Hospital, the Rebbe spoke publicly about their plight, comparing their commitment to Eretz Yisrael to the Daughters of Tzelafchad. Their great mesiras nefesh and unyielding faith is an inspiration to us all.

Join the students of Bnos Menachem in this celebration of Jewish Women, who have stood as pillars of strength and emunah throughout this long and bitter golus. In these last moments of golus, let us join together, as we rededicate ourselves to serving as beacons of light for our families, friends, and the broader community. Together, we will enlighten our path and bring Moshiach, NOW!
