Curtis Sliwa, the founder of subway patrol and crime fighting organization Guardian Angels, launched his campaign for mayor on Monday.

Sliwa will be running as a Republican on the slogan “Save Our City,” the New York Post reported.

Sliwa is also expected to call on all other candidates to sign an open letter calling for Governor Andrew Cuomo’s resignation over allegations of workplace misconduct. Several candidates, including frontrunners Eric Adams and Andrew Yang, have already done so.

Silwa’s platform will focus on reducing crime, reversing budget cuts to the NYPD, and bringing tourism back to the city.

Silwa has been an outspoken critic of the rise in crime, placing the blame on Mayor Bill de Blasio and city leadership.

“It took us a long time to crawl out of the belly of the beast of the 1970s through 1990s. Bill de Blasio and the Democrats are bringing us back in,” he told the Post.

Silwa has the endorsement of the Staten Island Republican Party and Brooklyn GOP, while Republican candidate Fernando Mateo had the backing of the Queens, Bronx and Manhattan GOP.
