History was made this week in Staten Island as an older couple celebrated their Jewish Wedding. Shoshana (73) and Osher (74) were married for 52 years but they had never had a Jewish wedding ceremony.

The couple decided it’s never too late to officialize their union in the Jewish way so they reached out to Rabbi Avraham and Rebetzin Bracha Gloiber and they helped them make a beautiful ceremony.

A chupa (wedding canopy) was set up in the Jewish Russian Learning Center of South Beach and many members of the community joined for the celebration. “They are one of the oldest couple to have a Jewish wedding in Staten Island and we felt very privileged to be able to help them during the process” said Rabbi Zeev Kushnirsky who officiated the wedding. “I hope this will be an example to everyone that it’s never too late, we should never be afraid we missed an opportunity” said the bride.

The couple said that not only the ceremony made them feel much more connected spiritually but also it already gave a boost to their relationship. They also hope that other people will follow their example and pursue their dreams at whatever age they may be at. After all, it’s really never too late.
