More than 100 people gathered at Lighthouse Park in Jupiter, Tuesday night to pray for the safety of missing teens Austin Stephanos and Perry Cohen.
The prayer circle was organized by the Chabad Center.
“Gathering together is a very powerful thing,” said Rabbi Berel Barash of the Chabad Center. “And making prayers and making resolutions to do acts of kindness are very powerful things.”
The event was planned at the last minute and only publicized briefly on social media, but much of the community still came out.
“It just gives you hope coming here,” said Alexandra Reinhart, a friend of the two boys. “All these people praying, it just make me feel good, like they’re going to come home.”
“I think it’s a good way to bring the whole community together and know that everybody cares,” said Andrew Reinhart, another friend of the boys. “It really puts hope in all of our hands.”
