For the summer, the CFCJ office directed by Rabbi Aisenbach Shalita sent Rabbi & Mrs. Menachem and Chaya Cadaner, with their baby Yoisef , for three consecutive months. Aside for all the ongoing activities, their mandate; to lead and guide our Kollel, to oversee the continuous construction of the women’s (and men’s) mikvah that the CFCJ is presently building on the island, but namely during this time, we ran our Gan Yisroel summer camp for the Jewish children of Havana.

Whereby over the last decade we opened it up for the parents and siblings, for we felt that everyone children and children in knowledge could learn and benefit from the camp, physical and spiritual benefit alike. In Memory of Rabbi Shlomo Eliezer ben Rabbi Jacob.

As you can understand, the summer is one of CFCJ‘s greatest opportunities to invest in humanitarian and educational level. It is a chance for everyone to have hands on experience learning all about Yiddishkeit. Many ideas introduced in the summer are continued on throughout the year, all due to the impression and education our emissaries give them.

Aside from all the learning, they are taken to beautiful areas (mainly tourist attractions) to play and relax in. There is boating, horseback riding, the zoo and the aquarium, to mention a few. Everyone is provided with supplies for arts and crafts, where they make beautiful projects based on Jewish themes. They have the usual sports and games that are so enjoyed.

A tasty, heaping plateful of food is definitely rejuvenating. Daily the children and their parents receive a scrumptious lunch. For many this is an adventure on their own. The CFCJ provides them with transportation from home to camp, and back.

With Divine Providence Eliyahu Ezagui, who came to tour for a few days, takes the opportunity to help with the community’s kosher matters for a few days, one of the actions of the kosher is the slaughter held last week.

For a long time, a strictly kosher slaughter was not conducted in large quantities, now enabling to strengthen the Jewish community in the country of Cuba, which is not easy to find the most minimal things, Eliyahu Ezagui flies with a suitcase of salt.

One of the local Jews said at the Shabbat meal: “We haven’t eaten kosher meat for many years.”.

We had not claimed the taste of meat for a long time. It really warm the hearts of all the guests around the table.

On a weekly basis kosher food packages are distributed to the local Jewish families in the country now enabling the families to get kosher meat in the package a special thanks to Eliyahu Blanco and Rabbi Cadaner for being a big part in the project.
