Ukraine Returns what Communists Confiscated

Close to 70 members of Parliament, the Justice Minister Mr. Pavlo Petrenko, the President’s Chief of Staff Mr. Boris Lozhkin, Israel’s Ambassador to Ukraine Mr. Eli Belertzvisky, and members from the local community gathered in Kiev’s central synagogue to celebrate the festival of Chanukah.
The event was orchestrated and led by Shliach and Ukrainian Chief Rabbi Moshe Reuven Azman.
During the event, as by Chanukah, another miracle occurred: 13 Sifrei Torah and an ancient Megilas Esther that were confiscates by the former Communist government were returned to the Jewish community, brought in by 13 of the Ukrainian Parliment members.
A special thank you goes to Ukrainian Member of Parliament Mr. Tzvi Hirsh (Georgi) Logvinsky who worked particularly hard at securing the Torah’s return.
