HaRav Yitzchok Raitport dedicated the main Sha’ar of the Beis Medrash Oholei Torah in memory of his brother Reb Eliyahu Raitport, OB”M, a devoted chossid, and a great talmid chochom. Rabbi & Mrs. Raitport, are loyal freinds and staunch supporters of Oholei Torah for many years.

Rabbi Raitport lost his father at young tender age, and his older brother R’ Eliyahu was the one who raised him. He watched over him in war torn Europe and encouraged him to learn. The closeness and dearness between the brothers was so evident, that Rabbi Raitport was known as “Itchele’s Eliyahu”, that the young Yitzchok Raitport belonged and was taken care of by his brother Eliyahu.

As is evident in recently found letters from the Rebbe, that the Rebbe took a keen interest in R’ Eliyahu’s life, both B’gashmius and also B’ruchnius. It’s also known that the Freideke Rebbe gave R’ Elihayu thought and interest.

R’ Eliyahu was well known for his avoda in davening and high levels of learning – so much so that R’ Nissan Nemanov had said he was one of the outstanding talmidim of Brunoy at that time.

Most recently, Rabbi Raitport visited Oholei Torah, together with members of his family. He extensively toured the campus building and was visibly impressed with the growth of the mossad, and saw the need to further expand to handle the influx of talmidim.

Following the tour and visiting classrooms, Rabbi Raitport gave a shiur in the Raitport Beis Medrash, and spoke passionately about his brother, and strongly encouraged the bochurim to toil in learning, and how this will bring much nachas to the Rebbe. Rabbi Raitport went on to give a pilpul in the gemorah the bochurim are currently learning.

After mincha, Rabbi Raitport together with Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Yisroel Friedman, met personally a group of talmidim and discussed with them topics that they are currently learning.

Rabbi Raitport was accompanied and welcomed by Rabbi Nosson Blumes, Director of Development, together with Rabbi Shlomo Segal, a member of the Hanhola of the Beis Medrash.
