Due to the violence taking place across America and particularly in New York City, police presence was increased outside 770 even though the Shul is still closed to the public.

In addition, Crown Heights Shmira, an integral part of the community that assists the NYPD with arrests, put out a notice last night informing residents of Crown Heights not to leave their house unless absolutely necessary to avoid any unpleasant incidents.

A ChabadInfo.com reporter was informed that a large group of African Americans were approaching the neighborhood to wreak havoc in shops and businesses and at the last second, the police force managed to stop them and apprehend some of them.

These riots began following the death of a man in Minneapolis in police custody after police officers acted excessively aggressive with him while kneeling on his neck for eight minutes.

As a result, hundreds of thousands went on huge rallies and protests throughout the United States, which in a matter of hours became extremely violent. In many of the rallies, the protesters are wreaking havoc on shops and businesses, burning police vehicles and in one of the places a police officer was shot dead.
