Long awaited booklet finally arrived, in honor of 100 years from the Rebbes Bar Mitzvah. This booklet (120 pages) records whatever is known about the period immediately before the Rebbe’s Bar Mitzvah, the Bar Mitzvah celebration itself, and the period following the Bar Mitzvah, during the Rebbe’s teen years. A chapter has been added about when the Rebbe started putting on tefilin, and various customs and hiddurim which the Rebbe is known to have practiced in connection with tefilin.
In the Rebbe’s sichos or letters, the Rebbe has never described these events, so most details have not reached us. Nevertheless, from the few facts that have been preserved, we perceive a striking picture of the Rebbe’s uniqueness even at that early stage of the Rebbe’s life.
This booklet is also translated into English for the first time. This will enable English speakers, particularly Bar Mitzvah boys who may not be fluent readers of Hebrew, to learn about the Rebbe’s Bar Mitzvah celebration, which will help them to prepare for their own Bar Mitzvah.
The booklet has been written by Rabbi Schneur Zalman Hertzel and has been translated by Rabbi Daniel Goldberg. The booklet that came this week from the Printing house is available in all bookstores in Crown Heights.
