Nachas To The Rebbe? Give Teachers a Raise!
In 1992, the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch reported to the Rebbe that they have decided to give a 6% raise to the Yeshiva teachers, then noting that “it will surely give the Rebbe Nachas Ruach” • The Rebbe’s Response
On the 10th of Adar I, 5752, the Hanhala the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch reported to the Rebbe that they had a meeting about Yeshiva matters, and a delegation of teachers came and asked for a pay raise, and after discussing it, they decided to give a 6% raise despite the difficult financial situation.
They concluded their letter by stating: “One of the reasons that we agreed to give the raise is – because it will surely give the Rebbe Nachas Ruach.”
The Rebbe responded by circling the words “give … Nachas Ruach” and wrote (Free Translation):
[1] Obviously this [Caused] Great [Nachas Ruach], as it says in the verse ואתהלכה ברחבה –
Surely there has to be a Gashmiyus start for the most Ruchniyus’dik concept – Tomchei Tmimim.
