With great sadness and complete shock, we regret to inform you on the untimely passing of Yosef Levy, OB”M, a Lubavitch Bochur from Be’er Sheva, Eretz Yisroel. Yosef was 21-years-old and R”L drowned on a beach in Cozumel, Mexico.

The Shliach of Cozumel, Rabbi Dudi Caplin, shared with ChabadInfo.com: “We are still shocked by the terrible disaster that occurred. We are doing everything to try and make sure the body is released for a proper and timely Kevura.”

Yosef, is an alumni of the Bucharim Yeshiva of Kfar Chabad. He was in Cozumel for the past few months on Shlichus in the Chabad House of Cozumel, together with a number of other Bochurim.

From time to time the Bochurim Shluchim go out for an activity, earlier today they went flyboarding at a nearby body of water, during the activity, unfortunately and shockingly he got stuck under the water, the waves were extremely strong, which didn’t allow any help to get to him.

Rabbi Caplin is working with ZAKA and local authorities in Mexico and Eretz Yisroel, attempting to have the body flown to Eretz Yisroel for a timely Kevura.

Additional information will be published when it becomes available.
