With great sadness we inform you of the passing of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Morosow, OB”M, of Crown Heights. He passed away on Wednesday, Rosh Chodesh Shevat. He was 101-years-old.

R’ Mendel was considered the eldest living Lubavitch Chossid in the world. He is the patriarch of a large Lubavitch dynasty with descendants around the world.

R’ Mendel was born in Russia, and was Zochei to be a Chosid of the Rabbe rashab, the Frierdiker rebbe and the Rebbe MH”M.

He was born in the town of Lubavitch to his esteemed father R’ “Chonye” Morozov. After the war he escaped Russia, traveled through France and Ireland on his way to America, so he could be with the Rebbe. He arrived in America in the early 1950’s.

Reb Mendel was a Mashpia for many years in Oholei Torah, was famous for his Chasidishe Farbrengens he would lead.

He is survived by his wife Rosa and their children Mrs. Rochel Goldberg – Crown Heights; Zalman Morosow – Montreal, Canada; Mrs. Henya Milecki – Sydney/Crown Heights; Mrs. Sterna Lesches – Monsey, NY; Mrs. Leah Goldman – Crown Heights; Mrs. Esther Friedman – Kansas City, KS; and Hirshel Morosov – Crown Heights; as well as hundreds of descendants.
