    With great sadness we inform you of the passing of Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael (Yanky/Jack) HaKohen Pfeffer, OB”M. He was the brother of Rabbi Tzvi (Hershel) HaKohen Pfeffer, the Frierdiker Rebbe’s Shliach to Pittsburgh, PA. He passed away on Shabbos, Tes Vov Nissan, the first day of Pesach. He was 93-years-old.

    Rabbi Preffer was a rabbi, chazzan, teacher, great traveler to and lover of Eretz Yisrael, he was the President of The Jewish Court Employees Association in Brooklyn while working there.

    The Levaya was held on Monday, the 1st day Chol HaMoed Pesach, and he was buried at the Old Montefiore Cemetery in Queens.

    Rabbi Hershel Pfeffer will be sitting Shiva at the Lefkowitz Family residence at 736 Lefferts Avenue in Crown Heights, from the Sunday immediately after Yom Tov until he returns to Pittsburgh on Tuesday. He will sit Shiva in Pittsburgh until Friday mid-morning, receiving people in Lubavitch Center Beis Yechezkel after ma’ariv.
