    With great sadness we regret to inform you of the passing of the philanthropist and Chossid Rabbi Meyer Zajac, OB”M, he passed away on Friday, Gimmel Sivan. He was 89 years old.

    He was one of the founders of the Frum community in S. Paulo, Brazil, and the primary benefactor of Likkutei Sichos. He also supported the printing if Tanyas around the world.

    Reb Meyer was born in Poland to R’ Simcha Yitzchok and Chava Neche Zajac and got married in 5714 to Zissel Brawer.

    Later, his family emigrated to Brazil.

    Rabbi Zajac founded Escola Beit Yaacov, a Jewish girl’s school in S. Paulo, at the instruction of the Rebbe. He school serves all frum Jewish communities there

    During one of his many audiences with the Rebbe, the Rebbe asked him about his future plans for settling down. When Rabbi Zajac replied that he planned on moving to the United States, the Rebbe told him: “You have to go back to Brazil, that is your place.”

    He is survived by his wife Zissel and their children, Rabbi Yisroel Zajac – S. Paulo, Brazil; Rabbi Yosef Zajac – S. Paulo, Brazil; Mrs. Lea Osdoba – Belle Harbor, NY; Mrs. Rechil Shapira, and grandchildren.

    He is also survived by his siblings Rabbi Leibel Zajac, Rabbi Yisroel Zajac, Mrs. Toba Izaak of S. Paulo, Brazil, and Mrs. Perel Felberbaum of Israel.
