With great sadness we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Tzivia Libba (Sylvia) Borenstein, OB”M, a longtime member of the Anash community of Montreal. Mrs. Borenstein passed away on Friday, 29th of Adar II. She was 95-years-old.
She was predeceased by her husband Rabbi Yosef Borenstein, OB”M, who escaped the Nazis in the Second World War and was one of the students of the Lubavitch Yeshiva of Shanghai, before immigrating to Canada.
She is survived by her children; Rabbi Eliyahu Dovid Borenstein – Florence, Italy; Rabbi Moshe Nachamn Borenstein – Crown Heights; Rabbi Levi Borenstein – Crown Heights; Rabbi Yankel Borenstein – Poughkeepsie, NY; Mrs. Esther Malka Levertov – Crown Heights; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother Moshe Fried of Staten Island, NY.
The Levaya will take place today, Friday, in Montreal.
The family will be sitting Shiva starting Sunday morning, at 37 Balfour Place, Brooklyn, NY.
