With sadness we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Esther Bukiet, OB”M, wife of the Chossid Reb Chaim Meir Bukiet, OB”M, and matriarch to a large family of Chassidim and Shluchim. She was 92 years old.
She had immigrated from Wislica, Poland, to Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1928. R’ Chaim Meir and Esther married in 1947. Shortly thereafter the young couple relocated to New York, where they lived and raised a family.
A brilliant woman, who had a keen understanding of people, would go out of her way to help another. With that she was a great cook, and many of her recipes are recorded in the Lubavitch cookbook.
She did everything she could to make her husband’s hectic life as Rov of a shul, custodian of a Mikvah, Rosh Yeshivah, Gabai of the Lubavitch Chevra Kadisha and sought after rov for questions, as tranquil as possible.
She raised a family who chose to be leaders in Jewish communities across the globe
She is survived by her children, Mrs. Rochel Stillman – Los Angeles, CA; Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Bukiet – Los Angeles, CA; Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Bukiet – Kfar Chabad; Rabbi Levi Bukiet – Chicago, IL; Mrs. Chaya Bukiet – Crown Heights; Rabbi Alter Fishel Bukiet – Boston, MA; Mrs. Sarah Tzirel Kramer – Montreal, Canada; and Rabbi Shneur Zalman Bukiet – Miami, FL.
Rabbi Avrahom Bukiet from Eretz Yisroel and Mrs. Chaya Bukiet from Crown Heights will be sitting Shiva at the Chazan Residence 734 Empire Blvd. till Friday afternoon.
